Frequently asked questions.

We Deux Farm FAQ

A few of the things we are asked most. If you do not see your question here, reach out any time. We are always happy to help.

Getting to Know Us

What is We Deux Farm? We are a small farm in Grass Valley, California, offering intimate, stress free elopements, overnight farm stays, animal tours, and photoshoot venue rental. Alongside our hospitality, we raise livestock and tend the land using permaculture and native landscape design.

Where are you, and what do you offer? We are in the Sierra foothills of Grass Valley, California. On the farm we host elopements, overnight stays, animal tours, and photoshoots. Caitlin also officiates off site throughout Nevada and Placer County.

Do you plan full weddings, or only elopements? On the farm, we focus on small, intimate elopements, a peaceful alternative to a courthouse or a Vegas chapel. For larger ceremonies off site, see our officiant services, and feel free to inquire about special accommodations.

Planning Your Elopement

How far in advance should we book? We recommend 2 to 6 months ahead, though we can often accommodate shorter timelines when dates are open.

Can we customize our package? Yes. After booking, we send a questionnaire to shape your day, from your officiant script to local vendor recommendations. We will do our best to bring your vision to life.

What is included? Your overnight stay, an officiant and witness, signing of your marriage license, a champagne or sparkling cider toast, dried floral bouquets or boutonnieres, a $100 dinner certificate, locally baked treats including a small wedding cake, 1 hour of photography, with a digital file of 60+ photos, a private visit with the farm animals for photos, and our curated local vendor list.

Do you handle the legal marriage paperwork? We will guide you through the marriage license process in your elopement packet and sign as your witness after the ceremony, but couples are responsible for obtaining and filing their own license.

How many guests can we bring? We welcome the couple, plus up to 8 guests, along with a photographer (we provide your photographer, but you are welcome to bring your own, if you have a certain style in mind). Any additional vendors, such as hair, makeup, video, planners, or content creators, count toward your guest total.

How long can our guests stay during the wedding? Guests are welcome for the ceremony and for photos before and after. Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask that group dinners and receptions be held off property. Your dinner certificate still covers your meal as a couple.

Can we choose our own vendors? Absolutely. We partner with trusted photographers, florists, and more and will send you our list, but you are always welcome to bring your own.

Do you help with dinner reservations? Yes. We will send a list of restaurants, book your reservation, and provide a $100 certificate. Please share your guest count in the questionnaire so we can plan ahead. Reservations depend on availability, and if your first choice is full, we will book a sister restaurant from our list.

Booking, Payment & Cancellation

How do I book? Book directly through our website. Your date is confirmed once your deposit is received and you get a confirmation email.

What is your payment policy? A 25% deposit is due at booking to reserve your dates, with the remaining balance due 14 days before arrival. You will receive reminders as that date approaches.

What is your cancellation policy? Because booking takes your dates off our limited calendar right away, all payments are non refundable. We strongly recommend travel insurance for peace of mind.

Can I reschedule instead? Yes. We allow one reschedule with at least 14 days notice, for a new date within 12 months, subject to availability. Your payment carries over to the new date.

What about tours, photoshoots, and off site officiant appointments? These are shorter, time slot bookings, so they keep a friendlier window. You may cancel up to 48 hours ahead for a full refund, and cancellations within 48 hours are non refundable. If weather or farm conditions force a change on our end, we will find a new time together.

Your Stay

What are check in and check out times? Check in is after 3pm, and check out is by 11am. We send arrival and access details before your stay.

Do you offer early check in or late check out? Sometimes, when the calendar allows. Message us in advance and we will check.

Is there Wi-Fi? Yes. Please note that rural connections can run slower than in town.

Is cell service reliable? It varies by carrier, so we recommend downloading maps and anything important before you arrive.

Do I need 4WD to reach the farm? No. Standard vehicles can reach us under normal conditions. If weather changes that, we will let you know.

What should we pack? Comfy layers, sturdy closed toe shoes (boots and long pants are ideal), a swimsuit if you plan to soak, a robe and slippers for full spa mode, and a flashlight or headlamp, since our dark country skies are beautiful and very dark.

The Farm

What kind of place is We Deux Farm? Peaceful, rural, and intentionally quiet. A place to slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect, surrounded by open sky and the gentle rhythms of farm life.

Is the property shared? It depends on your dates. Afternoons may bring a farm tour or a photographer renting the property, depending on the season. Your hosts live in the unit upstairs with their two dogs.

Are there animals on the property? Yes, this is a working farm, so you will see and hear animals and everyday farm activity. We include any "do not feed" or "do not enter" notes in your arrival instructions.

Can we bring our pets? We love animals, but no. Our guardian dogs are protective of the herd and defensive toward other dogs, so for your pet's safety, please leave them at home.

Amenities, Safety & House Rules

What amenities are included? Your stay includes the amenities listed in your booking, which may include outdoor spaces, the sauna, deck areas, and soaking tubs (currently under construction). Some amenities are seasonal, weather dependent, or still in progress, and may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or safety.

Are the sauna and soaking tubs always available? Not always. Access may pause for severe weather, maintenance, cleaning, safety concerns, or misuse. We will share any changes as early as we can.

Are there safety rules for the sauna, deck, and tubs? Yes. Guests agree to follow all posted guidelines and host instructions, use amenities only as intended, supervise their group at all times, and avoid the sauna or tubs while under the influence of alcohol. Use is at your own risk, and the host is not responsible for injury, illness, or loss from the use or misuse of amenities.

Are children allowed in the sauna or tubs? For safety, no. Children are not permitted in the sauna or soaking tub areas.

Are there quiet hours? Yes. We observe quiet hours from 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM to protect rest, nature, and our neighbors.

Can we play music? Soft music is welcome. Loud or amplified music, DJ gear, and sound systems are not permitted. Please keep the volume gentle.

Can I have visitors during my stay? Only with written approval. Guest limits are firmly enforced for safety and the care of the property.

Can I host an event or ceremony? No. Lodging-only stays do not include events, ceremonies, or gatherings unless you have booked an elopement or event package with us. If that interests you, please inquire, we would love to help.
